Polemonium reptans
Polemonium reptans L. - Jacob's Ladder is the most widely used common name for all Polemonium species. For P. reptans Green Valerian and Creeping Polemonium are seen. A European native Ploemonium caeruleum is called Jacob's Ladder also. Jacob's Ladder is a plant many know and have fallen in love with for it's bright pale blue flowers, sometimes a darker blue, that are so obvious in the spring woods. Success in the landscape depends on adequate moisture. WIth the right conditions the clump can grow larger and it can reseed into an area creating an all-season green foliage ground cover.
Propagation is by seed (seed pods are ornamental) or division.
