Malus x 'Donald Wyman'
2001 Theodore Klein Plant Award Winner
Malus x 'Donald Wyman' is one of the most floriferous of all the crabapples. The plant is impressive in every season with great large, 1 inch or larger, single flowers, excellent dark green foliage, and large persistent fruit. This crabapple was named in honor of the late great plantsman, author, and Arnold Arboretum horticulturist, Dr. Donald Wyman. The plant has a rounded form frequently found to be slightly wider than tall. A 20 year old specimen at the UKREC is 18 feet tall by 20 feet wide. Trials at UK showed it to have good resistance to most diseases and, therefore, it is considered to be free of disease problems.
