Apios americana, Groundnut
Apios americana is a Kentucky native that was surpisingly found invading a landscape slope planting of English Ivy. Crazy right, but where it grows along old fencerows and in "moist thickets" according to Wharton and Barbour, A Guide to Wildflowers and Ferns of Kentucky,1971 it is vigorous and grows over things, like bushes and old cars and other abandoned stuff. It is very attractive and the late summer blooms are beautiful and fragrant if not a long season of show.
