2001 Theodore Klein Plant Award Winner

Amelanchier x 'Cumulus' (pp 3092). Is an upright spring flowering tree. Michael Dirr states it grows 20 to 30 feet high and 15 to 20 feet wide. The flowers are white, fine textured, and airy as the name 'Cumulus' implies. Fall color is an attractive yellow to red. The plant was introduced by Princeton Nurseries, Princeton, NJ. It is hardy to Zone 4 and will tolerate those severe cold winters Kentucky periodically endure. This cultivar's size and shape and excellent flowering habit helped made it possible to move Amelanchier, serviceberry, from wooded areas where it is commonly seen to the landscape.
