Acer truncatum
Acer truncatum - Shantung maple
An adaptable tree with bright leaf color in spring and fall, it grows just 20 to 25 feet tall, with a 15- to 25-foot spread, making it suitable for smaller spaces and front yards hemmed by power lines. This Asian maple’s foliage emerges with a reddish cast before shifting to deep green for summer and then fiery shades for the fall. It tolerates heat and drought and grows in full sun to part shade. Zones 4–8a.
