2015 Theodore Klein Plant Award Winners
Picea abies ‘Pendula’ is a beautiful plant that can be used as a single spcimen or in groups. At the UKREC in Princeton they have what is referred to as the "Three Gentlemen", a grouping of three Weeping Norway Spruce in a semi-curve planting. There are many spruce cultivars listed under Picea abies forma pendula some have a weeping habit that requires training to a central leader. Picea abies 'Pendula' will grow upright to its mature height without much training once established in the landscape. Weeping Norway Spruce and its cultivars are grafted to seedlings. The seed germinates without stratification. Cuttings can be rooted in 1 part peat:1 part sand in winter, November to February.
